Double Star Burger with Melted Cheese & Thousand Island Sauce

Double Star Burger with Melted Cheese & Thousand Island Sauce

Intro

A massive double beef burger shaped like a star, loaded with melted cheese, a creamy Thousand Island and Dijon mustard sauce, pickles and red onion. Juicy, cheesy and definitely not your average burger.

Ingredients

For the beef patties

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 6 slices yellow cheese

For the sauce

  • 4 tbsp Thousand Island dressing
  • 1 tbsp whole grain Dijon mustard

For the burger

  • 1 large burger bun
  • 1–2 pickles, sliced
  • Red onion, thinly sliced

Instructions

1. Shape the patties
Divide the ground beef into two equal portions. Shape each portion into a large patty and form it into the distinctive star shape.

2. Season the beef
Season both patties with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

3. Sear the first side
Place the patties in a hot pan and cook until the first side develops a deep brown crust.

4. Add the cheese
Flip the patties and immediately place 3 slices of cheese on each patty.

5. Melt the cheese
Cover the pan with a lid. Continue cooking until the underside is browned, the beef is cooked to your liking and the cheese is completely melted.

6. Make the burger sauce
Mix the Thousand Island dressing with the whole grain Dijon mustard until combined.

7. Build the Star Burger
Spread the sauce over the bottom bun. Add the first cheesy beef patty, another layer of sauce, then the second cheesy patty.

Top with sliced pickles and thinly sliced red onion.

8. Finish and serve
Add the top bun, press gently and serve immediately while the beef is hot and the cheese is still melted.

K.O. Sizzle Forge Tip

Covering the patties after adding the cheese traps the heat and melts all six slices quickly without overcooking the beef.
